Job description

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
The primary purpose of the Security Sensitive Investigations Specialist position is to conduct Security Sensitive background investigations on prospective university employees, contractors, volunteers, faculty, and others to determine their potential security risk.
  • Conducts Security Sensitive background investigations on prospective employees, contractors, volunteers, and others using open source information and and/or other applicable security and/or law enforcement databases.
  • Utilizes the Harris County Justice Information Management System/District Attorney Intake Management System (JIMS/DIMS), and/or communicates with outside law enforcement agencies, to obtain policy summary reports when further investigations are warranted. Conducts administrative and criminal related investigation.
  • Determines whether prospective employees, contractors, volunteers and others pose security risks to the University, and communicates the determinations to the appropriate representative.


Education Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Education Preferred: Three years investigative experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
