Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Guard/Pantry Assistant to join our team. As a dual-role the Security duties will be in effect from 6am to 8am, then the Pantry duties will begin at 8am and continue until 3pm. As a Security Guard, this position helps ensure the safety and security of all Christian Mission Centers buildings, equipment, property, employees, and New Life clients as it seeks to meet the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all people to whom it ministers. Performs all reasonably related duties as assigned. As a Pantry Assistant Under the supervision of the Food Services Director, this position will assist with the day-to-day operations of the food pantry, giving labor support to all service areas.
Duties:
GENERAL SECURITY
- Lock up and unlock all buildings of the Christian Mission as needed or requested
- Monitor camera system for any unusual occurrence or deviant behavior on property
- Help diffuse conflictive situations for employees when walk up clients or others on Mission property are rude, disrespectful, violent, or troublesome
- Assist in getting new keys made for campus buildings as needed
- Keep accurate and up to date emergency phone numbers, drug testing files, client Family Visit sign outs, and doctor’s appointments
- Assist in moving trucks and trailers as needed
- Assist with any food dropoff donations after hours, store away in coolers, and give donor a tax deductible receipt
- In the event of an emergency immediately, the position notifies the appropriate personal (Police, Fire Department, etc.) then calls the Executive Director (Assistant Director if Executive is not available)
- Ensures that no one trespasses on Christian Mission property. Identify such persons and ask them to leave. Do not try to remove them from the property. Call the police for help.
- In the event of an incident, fill out in detail the incident report form. Make copies and give to Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director as soon as possible.
NEW LIFE CLIENT ASSISTANCE
- Pass out medication to New Life clients according to their approved list by the director• Transport male students on Sunday mornings to a local church for worship
- Drug Test male clients, as needed, in the case of abnormal behavior or at the specific request of the Executive or Assistant Director or probation officer; female client testing done by Mission office staff
- Drug Test clients staying in the emergency Women’s and Children shelter prior to lodging them and assist with getting their luggage to the storage bins on campus;
- Sign out clients for family visits and doctor’s appointments
- Assist clients with phone calls made to family members and doctor’s office ensuring confirmed person on the other end of the phone prior to the conversation beginning with New Life client
- Keep accurate and current phone log of all New Life Client calls out
- Take and record temperature of all New Life clients twice daily (during COVID-19)
- Handout mail to clients as needed
- Assist clients with purchases of drinks and turn money into the Mission office;
- Assist clients with bottled water(free) as needed
PANTRY ASSISTANCE
· Sort, filter, and organize donations, ensuring items are distributed to the appropriate locations within the organization.
· Drive and tow a trailer to pick up donations on a scheduled basis, following donation pick-up instructions.
· Ensure proper storage and rotation of meat in the freezer to maintain freshness.
· Help with sorting, organizing, and stocking inventory in the pantry.
· Sweep and mop the pantry, security areas, and other designated spaces to maintain cleanliness.
· Assist in dropping off donations to external locations as required.
· Aid in loading and unloading delivery trucks with food and janitorial supplies.
· Responsible for stocking food and janitorial supplies in designated storage areas.
·Take out the trash from the pantry, security, and kitchen areas regularly.
· Keep the dining room and outside areas of the kitchen and dining hall clean and organized.
· Prepare and pull food carts for clients to facilitate food disbursement to those clients as the counselor instructs.
· Fill in for the hot meal delivery drivers as needed.
· Assist with all food service needs, including lifting, pulling, and toting items that may be too heavy for kitchen staff.
· Maintain the Bargain Store’s weekly supply list.
· Be available to support and participate in all community events organized by the food service department.
· Keep outline stores pantry stocked as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Preferred experience as a Security Officer or in a related field
- Strong observation skills with the ability to identify potential security risks
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations
- Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation
Skills:
- Knowledge of security procedures and protocols
- Familiarity with surveillance equipment and alarm systems
- Ability to handle emergency situations effectively and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and alertness
- Physical fitness for pantry duties
