Job Description
Position Summary:
The Security Officer position is to provide campus-wide safety and security for personal, equipment, and real property.Primary Responsibilities Include:· Patrol the campus on foot or in a vehicle to ensure personal, building, and equipment safety and security.· Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure.· Lock and unlock campus buildings daily at pre-determined times.· Notifies Deans Office and/or the Administrator on Duty (AOD) of any Student Rule Infractions. Note any infractions on shift reporting log.· Provide escort service for visitors, students, faculty, and staff as needed.· Watch for and report irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, security doors that won’t lock, and any other item requiring maintenance.· Respond to fire alarm calls and assists fire department as required.· Assist police as required.· Perform nightly checks on all mechanical systems as well as nightly checks on all kitchen coolers and freezer equipment.· Provide traffic and parking management as needed.· Prepare Shift Reports for all shifts worked.· Prepare Incident Reports as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities Include:· Special event set-up and coordination.· Perform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or his/her designated representatives.Requirements:
· Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
· Ability to comprehend, carry out, and relay multiple verbal and written instructions.
· Current or retired military or law enforcement experience strongly preferred.
· Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals, in some instances under stressful, dangerous and/or emergency conditions.
·Must complete (or already have) certification in First Aid to include CPR, AED and Blood Borne Pathogens.
** This is a Part time position. Must be able to work weekend, afternoon, and evening shifts.**
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is in outside weather conditions.
