Position Summary
Works under the supervision of the Security Operations Supervisor/Chief Security Officer. Responsible for providing a safe and secure environment throughout the entire hospital, clinic, and grounds. Will respond to all acts of threats and violence with the response area of their associated building. Monitors both inside and outside areas. Provides assistance upon request and responds immediately to any situation requiring security personnel. Keeps accurate documentation of all rounds and security incidents. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure
1. Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Obtain the RAIDER Operator Training within the first twelve (12) months of employment. Non-Violent Crisis Interventional within 6 months of employment.
2. Licensure/Certification: Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certificate or IAHSS Private Security Officer Certificate is required.
3. Experience: 3 years prior law enforcement, security, or military experience required.
4. Ohio Driver's License in good standing.
5. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Good eye, hand, foot coordination with ability to listen well and speak. Qualify bi-annually with a handgun, shotgun, and/or rifle.
6. Interpersonal Skills: Must interact well with patients, staff, and visitors.
7. Essential Physical Requirements: The work is moderate but sometimes strenuous due to emergency situations. Stands, walks, and climbs stairs 80% of the time while on duty. Ability to walk/run 1.5 miles continuously, Lift 30 lbs. from the floor, walk 25 feet, and place it back on the ground. Walk up and down five flights of stairs continuously.
8. Essential Mental Abilities: Good memory with analytical and problem solving abilities. Good attention to details.
9. Essential Sensory Requirements:
Vision: You Must have uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100 in each eye separately, correctable to 20/20 monocular vision. Color vision must be normal.
Hearing: Hearing level shall not exceed 30 debicles of loss at any of the following: 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz, & 3000 Hz in each ear.
10. Exposure to Hazards: May encounter verbal and/or physical abuse from patients, visitors, etc. May be exposed to hazardous materials. May be subject to extreme work place violence up to and including a firearm
11. Hours of Work: 24 hours of operation. May work any 8, 10, or 12-hour shift.
