In suppor of he mission of Mississippi S a e Universi y, he MSU Police Depar men seeks o provide he highes quali y of law enforcemen services o s uden s, facul y, s aff, and visi ors emphasizing educa ion, environmen , and enforcemen as ins rumen s o posi ively influence s uden developmen , heal hy lifes yles, and safe y wi hin our communi y.
Essen ial Du ies and Responsibili ies:
1. Performs foo and vehicle pa rols of campus o moni or behavior, buildings, and proper y and
communica es necessary campus safe y informa ion o he Universi y Police Depar men .
2. Physically secure buildings as scheduled.
3. Opening and securing rooms and buildings a he reques of au horized individuals.
4. Providing safe y escor s as needed.
5. Pa rols campus buildings and proper y o ensure he securi y of he facili ies/areas.
6. Escor main enance personnel o assigned inconspicuous areas for repairs af er hours.
7. Main ain radio communica ion wi h o her safe y personnel and officers on campus.
8. Responds o ac iva ion of alarm sys ems including campus-wide elec ronic sensor alarm aler s.
9. Wri e and submi inciden repor s o assigned supervisor or law enforcemen officer.
10. O her du ies may include raining addi ional securi y officers and as assis ing wi h crowd
con rol and/or direc ing raffic during special even s.
11. Perform o her assigned work-rela ed du ies as required.
12. Abili y o work in s ressful si ua ions and deescala e po en ial violen ac ivi y
Minimum Qualifica ions:
High School diploma or equivalen
Preferred Qualifica ions:
1. Educa ion beyond minimum
2. Previous work experience
3. Cer ifica ion in CPR/Firs Aid
4. Good physical condi ion

Working Condi ions and Physical Effor
