Job description

Responsible for the safety and security of residents, facility and service programs, staff and property. First responder along with nursing staff employee(s) to emergency incidents involving our residents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • First responder to all emergency situations, including, but not limited to: fire, theft, unauthorized persons, personal injury etc. Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Patrol facility and premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates and regular rounds both inside and outside. Record each round in the security Worx hub app.
  • Ensure physical safety and protection through effective monitoring of lighting, lock and key system, door alarms, monitors, personnel identification and access control through surveillance rounds, package, material and property removal control and vehicle control. Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • Prepare written incident reports on any extraordinary behavior, occurrences, daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Notify supervisor of all incidents.
  • Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and which would not only affect the operating efficiency of the individual involved, but would also affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a slight degree.
  • Report all maintenance problems, and when possible, rectify safety hazards.
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Responsible for traffic and parking control.
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested, including furniture moving.
  • Deliver packages and announcements to residents' apartments as needed.
  • Adjust schedule or work overtime on occasion to meet departmental needs.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Whether it's addressing residents, visitors, employees, or stakeholders, clear and concise communication is essential for conveying instructions, explaining security procedures, or relaying necessary information.
  • Demonstrates strong emergency response skills can swiftly assess and respond to various types of emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, natural disasters, or security breaches. Ability to act decisively and efficiently is crucial in safeguarding lives and giving a timely response to critical situations.
  • Strong ability to observe and maintain situational awareness is a must-have skill for security officers. Developing keen observation skills involves being attentive to details, recognizing suspicious behavior, and identifying potential threats.
  • Demonstrates ability to critical think, problem-solving, make sound decisions and respond appropriately in emergencies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, make timely decisions, and mitigate security risks efficiently.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and de-escalate stressful situations and avoid further escalation
  • Ability to be able to operate monitoring systems like video surveillance cameras, alarms, and control panels.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills fosters a positive environment and enhances the overall experience. Demonstrates effective customer service skills when handles situations with empathy, professionalism, and courtesy, guaranteeing all feel valued and respected.
  • Demonstrates Professionalism which includes qualities such as punctuality, maintaining a neat appearance, following proper protocols and procedures, honesty, integrity, adherence to policies and procedures, and respecting confidentiality.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES

  • High school or GED, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. first responder, data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to several elements such as, inclement weather, noise, intermittent standing, walking; and occasional pushing, carrying, or lifting up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
