Job Summary:
Work Schedule: Security staff work a 40-hour week on-site; includes holidays and weekends. Overtime available for other shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain security surveillance for the Museum collections and property.
- Operate and maintain security console for burglar and fire alarm systems.
- Periodic inspection of Museum complex to detect safety and security issues.
- Responsible for opening and closing the Museum.
- Provide assistance to staff and visitors as needed.
- Conducts regular tours and patrols.
- Assists frontline staff in security issues.
- Provide information and assistance directly to visitors as required.
- Interact with visitors and staff in a professional manner at all times.
- Valid SORA license preferred.
- Prior security experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency in basic report writing required.
- CCTV training/experience preferred.
- Familiarity with basic operations of burglar and fire alarm systems required.
- Basic skills related to the operation of a personal computer including using email and Microsoft Word preferred.
- Able to understand and implement written procedures in the training manual used by the security force.
- Demonstrable ability to display good personal judgement in an emergency.
- Willing and able to work on Saturdays, Sundays and some holidays as well as evenings and nights as part of the regular shift.
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when required by the Museum.
- Must be able to bend, reach above shoulder level, climb stairs, and remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift items with a minimum weight of 50 lbs.
