Downstream Casino Resort is currently looking for individuals who are interested in working in the Security Department. Downstream Casino Resort is owned and operated by the Quapaw Nation of Oklahoma. The Quapaw Leadership’s decision to build a truly upscale state-of-the-art Casino Resort in 2008 has resulted in creating the gem of the four states, to this day. Everything was done with the purpose of making a visit to Downstream a superb experience. The Security team plays an important role in fulfilling that vision.

As a Security Officer, some of the advancement opportunities within Security include; becoming an EMT (we work closely with the Quapaw Nation EMS), CPR instructor, defensive tactics instructor, de-escalation trainer, along with advancing through the ranks.

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for patrolling and monitoring the property and responding to emergency situations.

The Security Officer is responsible for properly executing security duties on an assigned shift, to adequately protect the life and property of customers, employees and Downstream Casino Resort property while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Shall ensure the safety of customers and employees while on the premises of the Downstream Casino Resort.
  • Ability to deal with problems in a professional manner.
  • Generate daily/weekly reports as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Assist patrons and employees and respond to critical situations.
  • Continual observation and patrolling, as directed, of all assigned properties.
  • Shall be able to successfully complete CPR/First Aid Training Course; and any other training required by management.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times. Maintains a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
  • Meets attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • It is preferred that applicants be 21 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Must have good observation skills.
  • Applicants must be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
  • Must have ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must present a well-groomed and professional appearance.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues.
  • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.

  • Must have the physical ability to work with extreme weather as well as the ability to lift 80 lbs, to squat, stand or bend repeatedly.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
