Secret C++/Java Developer

JOB DESCRIPTIONSkiltrek is looking to hire 2 software developers with an intermediate (5+ years) to senior (10+ years) level skillset. Software developers must be proficient with both C++ and Java programming languages. Strong familiarity with file I/O operations in C++ would be beneficial. These team members will be tasked with reverse-engineering existing, legacy components written in C++ and Java, and porting legacy code to newer, service-based architecture. It will require self-starters that will be able to take the lead on overall software design and implementation.
The team will be developing a replacement for an existing DoD system. The new system must provide an adequate replacement for existing capability while improving usability of the software, require less overhead for maintaining the codebase, and provide containerized software services for many of the existing data source connections. The existing software development team already has a head-start in many areas.REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCEActive Secret clearance
Strong familiarity with C++ programming language; preferably good understanding of file I/O operations in C++
Strong familiarity with Java programming language
Comfortable working with large, legacy codebase
Ability to work with other team members.
Experience with Git source control and ticket tracking tools (ex. Jira)NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCEBachelors Degree in a related IT field
Design and development of REST Web Services
OpenAPI Specification (OAS) (previously called Swagger)
General Programming Knowledge - Design Patterns, Database Design, Multi-threading, Inter Process Communication, XML, JSON
Prior experience with design and deployment of microservices using Docker.
