Hope Alaska's Bear Creek Lodge is a great place to work during Alaska's busy and beautiful summer months. The town of Hope boasts a year-round population of 220 residents (less, depending on who you ask) with hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of additional visitors each day during the summer. Bear Creek Lodge has 8 individual nightly rental cabins, an on-site restaurant, a coffee shop where overnight guests check in, and staff housing next door. The restaurant, Dirty Skillet, which sits on the property, serves hearty, heaping and home-cooked dinners and great cold drinks. Bear Creek runs directly through the property feeding Bear Creek Pond right at the entrance. Bear Creek Lodge offers the most nightly accommodations in Hope with the only on-site restaurant in town. Hope is known for its amazing scenery, epic hiking and biking trails, world-class music scene, and renowned white-water rafting, kayaking and pack rafting. Spending summers to work and play in Hope has many folks coming back year after year.
Bear Creek Lodge will be open to the public mid-May to October 1, 2024. We have limited staff housing available; some employees bring their own "house" (ie. tent, camper, motorhome), and others stay in our rustic staff cabins.
Pay ranges between $12-$15 / hour PLUS tips (which is typically $10+ additional per hour). A relocation incentive may apply. And a year-end bonus is available to all hourly staff who starts at the beginning of the season and fulfills the entire season.

Details of our current seasonal occupational vacancies:
- BAR TENDER: The bar tender is responsible for guest relations at the restaurant, maintaining inventory of all beer and wine, and opening/closing the restaurant at night. This position must be 21 years or older, according to state law.
- WAIT STAFF: Wait Staff must be able to safely and efficiently provide excellent customer service to each guest - both cabin guests and dining guests. Wait staff can expect a high volume of dining guests and periods of quietness throughout the day and week. Wait Staff will be expected to help clean, organize, and take turns working the Back of the House with prep and dish washing. Wait Staff may at times act as host/hostess, busser, and runner. Some days, Wait Staff will be expected to help with house-keeping when needed, as well as occasional grounds maintenance (planting flower and trees, weeding, cleaning the property, etc.).
- PREP COOK: The Prep Cook is expected to work directly with the Executive Chef in preparing foods, plating, and working as occasional dishwasher and runner.
- BARISTA & CUSTOMER SERVICE: The day lodge has a coffee shop that is open 7 days a week for guest and community use. The Barista position doubles as Customer Service Representatives as this is also the location that cabin guest check-in, check-out, and may ask for additional supplies and support.
- HOUSEKEEPERS: Housekeepers will work to assure extreme cleanliness of all cabins, wash facilities, laundry, and grounds. Housekeepers may be asked to do occasional grounds maintenance when needed (planting flowers, weeding, watering, etc.). Typical hours are 11 am (after guest check-out) to 3 pm (before next guest check-in).
- DISH WASHERS: Dish washers are expected to expertly clean all service ware for the restaurant. Additionally, dish washers will support Wait Staff by cleaning appliances, dining areas, and occasionally the Wash Hut areas. Dish washers may be asked to help with occasional grounds maintenance when needed.
