About The Adjutant General's Office:

Salary Information:
This position pays $13.00 - $17.00 per hour depending no qualifications, limited to working 180 calendar days
A Day in the Life:
You will perform a variety of landscape activities, such as planting, weeding, digging, spreading topsoil and other materials, general lawn maintenance, and seasonal lawn preparation. Crew member will also operate lawn mowers and related equipment and will assist the Grounds Foreman on projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs planting and related activities.
  • Performs routine lawn maintenance including grass cutting, lawn edging, weed pulling, and other routine lawn-maintenance activities. Uses lawn mower and related equipment.
  • Provides seasonal lawn care, such as spring and fall clean-up.
  • Moves materials and equipment and performs related duties to assist in landscaping and hardscaping.
  • Digs holes and trenches and excavates for landscaping and hardscaping using picks and shovels or related equipment.
  • Hauls or spreads topsoil, gravel, sand, mulch, or related materials using wheelbarrows and rakes.
  • Hand-finishes grade, and apply seed, straw, or sod.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and notifies Grounds Foreman of needed repairs.
  • Responds politely to customer inquiries and projects a professional image.
  • Reports to work at the required time and performs duties as assigned by the Grounds Foreman.
  • Loads equipment and materials on and off trucks and trailers.
  • Performs snow removal activities as assigned, such as shoveling, salting, etc...
  • Assist staff on projects as assigned.
  • Applies chemicals under the direction of the Grounds Foreman.
  • Assist and participate in special project as assigned.
  • Assist and support the Facilities Maintenance staff on projects as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:
  • One (1) year of work experience.
  • Valid high school diploma or HSE.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license.
  • Experience in the landscaping field is preferred.
