Job Description
A Deckhand provides general labor safely and efficiently on our tug or supply vessels. The Deckhand is responsible for repairs to vessels and equipment, along with secure and unsecure vessel to docks and barges. They will perform maintenance and assist with the loading and unloading of supplies and equipment. Deckhands will provide radio, engine, line and fire watch. Relaying important information to the crew, watchkeeping duties and ensuring the general upkeep of the vessel. Deckhands should be able to follow orders and obey all environmental and governmental regulations and be physically fit. The Deckhand works under the supervision of the captain and is required to perform all physical tasks needed on the vessel. This will be a Seasonal Full Time position for the dredging season June through November. Start date may be in May to prepare for the dredging season.
Key Responsibilities:
· Making up the tow.
· Dropping, spotting, and switching barges at docks.
· Inspects, corrects, or notifies others of any condition which affects the safety of team members or cargo.
· Examines cables, wires, and line to ensure they are fit for use, uses tools to tighten or loosen as needed.
· Stand Lookout
· Chipping and painting of the vessel.
· General equipment maintenance.
· Handles rigging during barge tow and docking activities.
· Assists with loading and unloading the vessels of materials, equipment, and supplies.
· Housekeeping duties
· Coupling, operating winches and ratchets
· Line handling, including splicing and throwing lines.
· Must exhibit a strong sense of safety, teamwork, personal responsibility, and agility.
· Ability to think clearly and safely in stressful situations.
· Physical Dexterity and strength the handle line and build tows.
Applicant Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Must Have Merchant Mariner Credential (Ordinary Seaman)
TWIC Card
Ability to lift 40 pounds safely and unassisted.
Minimum of 1 year experience with Tugboats and barges.
Available 7 days a week and be on a vessel for up to 72 hours at a time.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $20 to $30 per hour. These figures represent what Lind Marine reasonably expect to pay for this position, but actual compensation offered will depend on numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, location, education, and market data.
