Please note, that this position includes direct store delivery, counting and loading product, and issuing credits. Applicants with DSD, Route Sales, Retail, Management, or LTL experience will be highly considered. Seasonal fuel oil delivery driver as well as school bus drivers and other school employees are also encouraged to apply, as our work occurs during summer / Christmas breaks.
TNT Fireworks is currently hiring seasonal CDL drivers to deliver consumer fireworks beginning mid-May, and pick up the unsold products from grocery and retail stores over a 2 to 4-week period beginning July 5th.
During returns, drivers will be assigned a route and visit stores to pick up the unsold products. As a back door (DSD) vendor, they must count, sort, and box returns, to be transported in compliance with DOT hazmat requirements. Accurate return quantities are vital to ensure proper credit to each store. Expectations are to work 8+ hour days M-F and partial day Saturday, with a 34 hour off duty reset over the weekend.
This position requires flexibility and work beyond just driver responsibilities. Top drivers may earn a bonus and the opportunity to travel to other states once our territory is complete. Most of our drivers are provided the opportunity to return to us each New Year’s and July season.
Key responsibilities:
- Safely operate a class B box truck (some class A driving may be available, but not required) for delivery and return of product.
- Properly count or verify with DSD Receiver, claims associates, or store management quantities of each item for credit, and enter them into a tablet.
- Load products into pallet packs in the truck, properly package and block/brace in accordance with D.O.T. hazmat/company requirements.
- Communicate daily with office support staff to ensure the product is available and ready for pickup when you arrive at the stores.
- A professional attitude is a must as a company representative.
- Handling of product is required. This is NOT a "no-touch" freight position. Drivers must be able to lift, bend, reach, pull, carry, stand, and walk while visiting stops.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Class A or B CDL w/ hazmat will be required, HOWEVER any CDL drivers are encouraged to apply and obtain hazmat endorsement by June. Training/fees for obtaining hazmat will be provided or reimbursed upon successful completion of the season.
- Must be able to lift up to 40+ lb and able to reach above head to properly stack and secure the load.
- Drivers must provide accurate information about any vehicular accidents and violations within the last year and comply with company drug and alcohol policy and submit to random testing.
Benefits:
- Daily pay for deliveries and returns varies by route/mileage, but most drivers average $200 - $400 per day.
- Pay includes a daily base rate plus a bonus for each stop, with an increase in daily rate each year you return.
- $40 daily per diem is reimbursed tax-free in your check to cover meals and personal expenses.
- Bonuses paid for passed DOT inspections, volunteering to work in other locations, and good driver referrals.
- A company credit card is provided for fuel and hotels.
- Out of town drivers MAY be provided local lodging between work days.
- There are no company-offered healthcare benefits for seasonal employees.
