 Job Summary:

The Mount Snow Competition Center programs aim to provide enthusiastic athletes of all backgrounds and dedication levels with the opportunity to excel in a variety of snow sports. We are looking for an Assistant Manager to oversee and meet our expanding program's needs.

 

The ideal candidate will work closely with the Competition Department Manager, Discipline Head Coaches, and Event Operations Lead to enhance on-snow program and event quality, success, and expansion. They will provide leadership and mentorship to staff, including comprehensive coach education and professional development training, and develop positive relationships within the organization and the community.

 

The Assistant Manager will be actively involved in all aspects of department operations, collaborating on long-range training and event plans, while also being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Competitions Department. As the Mount Snow Competitions Department covers multiple disciplines, a comprehensive understanding across fields and the ability to guide our leaders in all areas will be crucial for success. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, a multitasker, and an effective communicator who can collaborate with various partners.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Expected Pay Range: $52,000 - $62,465
  • Shift & Schedule Availability:  Full Time Seasonal
  • Skill Level: Specialist

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising department staff to achieve department goals.
  • Plan and manage mountain events, such as alpine racing, freestyle, and snowboard events.
  • Coordinate training activities and hill space allocations with mountain operations and ski clubs.
  • Ensure safety and guest service standards are met for all operations in the department, including venue set up and tear down, use of tools and equipment, and event course safety.
  • Provide coordination and operational support to internal and external partners.
  • Organize operational schedule and calendar in line with event schedule.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication among all mountain division departments regarding on-mountain operations that may impact events.

 

 Job Requirements:

  • Coaching experience and passion for snow sports.
  • USSA level 200 or higher coaching certification (PSIA or International Equivalent).
  • Extensive collaboration with USSS, USASA, and VARA.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with event management, surface preparation, and course setting
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to ski/ride and work safely in all snow surface/terrain conditions in harsh winter weather for prolonged periods.
  • Strong organizational, communication and written skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in technology is required.

 

Job Experience

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in resort operations, events, or marketing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible work schedule based on program and event needs.
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail.
  • Expert level skier/rider.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office / MS Outlook.

Preferred:

  • Experience with timing racing events, timing software, and production of competition results.
  • High School graduation or equivalent.

 

The expected pay range is $52,000 - $62,465. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
