Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.24 an hour.


Location:
This position is in INDOT's La Porte District Technical Serices Division, LaPorte.


Role Overview:
This position will assist the LaPorte District Technical Services Asset Management section with document management functions. The Asset Management Team has a significant number of paper based documents that provide critical historical context to bridges and culverts within the District. This position will manage the transition of these documents from paper to digital form. Work duties will include scanning documents, ensuring files are compliant with digital storage conventions, and transition the digital document files to the correct network location. The current estimate is that Asset Management has three to five full size file cabinets full of paper-based files that require review and action (either destruction or digitization depending on the asset) to fully integrate the District's historical data into statewide information systems.

A Day in the Life:

  • Responsible for transition of documents from paper to digital form;
  • Maintains office filing system, inventory, and searches files for retrieval of information;
  • Enter data into Excel or Microsoft as needed;
  • Performs variety of related clerical tasks (e.g.; open /sort mail, compose/edit correspondence relative to assigned work, maintain files, answer telephone inquiries);
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Valid high school diploma or GED; preferred one (1) year of related work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to perform daily duties independently and/or with other people.
  • Must have knowledge about Excel, Microsoft, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to take orders on which tasks need to be completed.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.
  • Pay attention to details and have an organizational Skills and Time management.
  • Considerable knowledge of computer skills with Microsoft Office Software required specifically Excel to be able to create and input information into Excel databases.
