Seamstress - The Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans

Principle Responsibilities/Position Purpose:

Repair uniforms, linen, etc. to assure proper fit while maintaining their condition.

Visually assesses repair needed

accurately measures and alters uniforms.

Visually inspects and repairs various linens.

Coordinates cleaning of uniforms and other hotel items with the Laundry department to ensure proper and timely production of inventory.

Assists in determining the size, selection and placing of orders.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

• Assist team members securing proper uniform.

• Provide assistance to housekeeping and laundry departments when needed.

• Other duties as requested.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Knowledge and ability to perform basic operations on a sewing machine.

Visual ability and manual dexterity to perform detailed repair work.

Ability to communicate effectively in English in order to complete inventories, assist team members, etc.

Other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

High School graduate or equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE

Previous industrial sewing experience required.
