Scribes are responsible for assisting the physicians by recording all findings during the examination in the electronic patient record. Scribes complete encounter forms, glasses/medication prescription forms and recall information.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians with patients
- Document the physician findings of the examination within the patient record
- Records billing information of the exam to ensure proper financial processing
- Escorts patients to patient reception area; may be required to assist patients with walking, by pushing wheelchairs, lifting, and transferring
- Accurately fill out and complete all information during the exam (route slip, consent forms, cataract data sheets, glasses prescriptions, medication prescription forms, etc.)
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other employees throughout the Clinic
- Ensure provider's exam rooms are stocked with necessary items
- In the event there is no Lead Scribe, maintain a peer review audit process that identifies employee's strengths and weakness maintained thru data entry logs and report generating
- Perform intraocular pressures
- Stay current on documentation and coding requirements through continuing education/training
- All other duties as assigned
