Job Description:
The Salvage Yard Scrap Pile Laborer would be responsible for observing the Scrap Pile and ensuring that all materials are correctly placed in the designated areas. Sorting materials based on the type, condition and value. The Scrap Pile Laborer would assist customers when dropping off materials by directing traffic and making sure that no material is dumped that has no value to the company such as garbage, plastic, concrete, bricks, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor and observe the Scrap Pile to ensure that all materials are correctly placed in the designated areas.
Sort materials based on their type, condition, and value.
Adhere to all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. This may involve wearing protective gear, following established procedures, and reporting any hazards or incidents to supervisors.
Assist customers who are dropping off or picking up materials. This may involve providing information, directing traffic, or answering questions.
Perform general maintenance tasks, such as sweeping the yard, cleaning equipment, or repairing damaged material
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that involves standing, walking, or climbing for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working in a salvage yard or similar environment is an asset but not required.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work in outdoor environments and all weather conditions.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
