The New York Red Bulls are one of 29 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters' Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.
The position of the Assistant Scout is responsible for scouting and recruiting related tasks focusing on the Red Bull New York MLS team, the Red Bull New York MLS Next Pro team and on the Red Bulls' Academy. Contribute in the scouting and recruiting process identifying target players through video and live scouting as well as by the use of data analysis according to our Red Bull philosophy, feeding into our database with both written and video reports and staying up to date with shortlists. Working unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and holidays is expected at times, at the discretion of the Head of Scouting.
Because of the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, your assigned hours may vary to reflect our needs (includes nights and weekends).
Job Description
PLAYER IDENTIFICATION
  • Screening target territories: Identify players through video scouting and the use of data analysis according to our Red Bull Philosophy and specific roster needs
  • Attending games and (youth) tournaments for live scouting purposes
  • Oversee and build up expertise & network in assigned territories
  • Stay ahead of trends using research and data analytics to enhance our advantage in target territories
  • Stay up-to-date on the roster quality of our First & Second team as well as on our U17 & U15 Academy Teams for referencing purpose

REPORTING & SHORTLISTING
  • Create both written and video reports on individual players to feed into our scouting database
  • Cross reference on target players in the final phase of the scouting process
  • Create shortlists and keep them up-to-date
  • Manage the day to day upkeep of the internal scouting database

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Maintain existing and build new relationships throughout our club, league and key territories
  • Work towards designated SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timed) targets for personal development and departmental progression - Lead on projects as needed under the guidance of the Head of Scouting
  • Proactive approach and taking initative on new ideas improving the scouting department
  • Support the onboarding and development process of new team members

Qualifications
Candidate needs to have 5+ years work experience in the industry at a professional level: scout, performance analyst, player and/or coach
A deep knowledge of scouting processes within soccer, backed up by relevant experience
Possess excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
Experience utilizing a variety of performance analysis and video editing software is required
Proficiency in presentation building tools (Microsoft Office/Apple Office)
Experience in statistical analysis (preferred)
Strong attention to detail, being proactive and using initiative, working diligently and reliable with accuracy under time constraints
Bring a natural enthusiasm to discovering soccer players for our club
