Job Description

Job Title:               Scorer Helper, Bowman Gray Stadium

Department:          Winston Salem Speedway

FLSA Status:         Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Scorer Helper plays a crucial role in accurately recording race results and maintaining data integrity during events. The Scorer Helper works closely with the scoring team to accurately record race results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Assist the scoring team in accurately recording race results using electronic scoring systems and software.
  • Collaborate with race officials and timing personnel to ensure timely and accurate capture of race data.
  • Monitor race progress and communicate any discrepancies or issues to the scoring team for resolution.
  • Verify the accuracy of race results and assist in resolving any scoring discrepancies or inquiries.
  • Provide support during pre-race setup and post-race teardown of scoring equipment and systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); previous experience in race scoring or related roles, preferably in motorsports or racing events; strong understanding of scoring principles, race regulations, and timing systems; proficiency in using scoring software and related technology; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Driver License

  • Strong understanding of scoring principles, race regulations, and timing systems.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the race schedule and event calendar.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities according to the race schedule and event calendar.
