Job description

Overview:
Monte Rosa is seeking an enthusiastic and highly talented chemist who is eager to discover molecular glue degraders (MGDs). This position plays a key role in advancing our early portfolio by finding high quality chemistry starting points from our proprietary MGD library. As a member of a highly interdisciplinary team the main task of this role is analyze the output of biochemical, biophysical and cellular compound screens with the goal of identifying high quality starting points for future drug discovery programs. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in early-stage drug Discovery and prior experience in HTS data analysis and hit follow-up.
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze High Throughput Screening (HTS) output with the goal of identifying promising starting points for hit Generation Chemistry.
  • Develop hit follow up and early Lead Generation strategy for discovery targets in collaboration with Discovery scientists.
  • Create structure activity relationship driven hypotheses for follow-up experiments to probe target engagement in hit validation.
  • Contribute to Lead Generation strategy for new ligase discovery.
  • Provide tool compounds and contribute to target validation efforts as member of a cross-functional discovery team.
  • Provide chemistry progressive assessments for early targets.
  • Develop and evolve the Lead Generation Chemistry platform through actionable feedback from screening results.
  • Efficient and timely execution of compound syntheses through our CRO network.
  • Act as an effective partner in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Summarize and publish findings in manuscripts and patents when appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • BS/MS/PhD in synthetic organic chemistry/medicinal chemistry or equivalent experience with a history of applicable publications ins small molecule therapeutics discovery.
  • Industrial experience in hit and Lead Generation Chemistry.
  • Deep experience of High Throughput Screening analysis and follow-up.
  • Familiarity with early stages of pre-clinical research in drug discovery.
  • Familiarity with databases and data visualization tools.
  • Proficiency in complex molecule synthesis and/or synthetic method development experience.
  • Needs to be highly effective in cross-functional and cross-site teams.
  • Experience of collaborating with CROs is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
