Job DescriptionThe Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine Group at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the rAAV technologies analytical group. The position is focused on AAV characterization using analytical technics, both on assay development and characterization of rAAV productions. The candidate will work collaboratively with our therapeutic area teams to advance AbbVie’s rAAV pipeline. The ideal candidate will have biotechnology experience in rAAV Process and Analytical Development. Droplet digital PCR and Analytical Ultracentrifugation would be a plus. He/she/they will be responsible for assisting with the development and execution of analytical methods to support research and preclinical studies. This position requires a versatile individual, who can work in development and analytical activities to advance pipeline.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in the development and application of molecular and cell-based assays (e.g., qPCR, ddPCR, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, WB, Endotoxin assay)
- Apply molecular/biochemical/functional assays to characterize the integrity of rAAVs.
- Experience with molecular cloning, analytical ultra centrifugation, electronic microscopy, next generation sequencing and other viral vectors is a plus.
- Analyze experimental data, generating plots and summarizing results and conclusions.
- Maintain a comprehensive Electronic Lab Notebook documenting experiments.
- Maintain a high level of productivity in the team with clear daily, detailed, and accurate documentation of experiments.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project goals, and advance novel vectors into pipeline.
- Author technical reports and protocols.
- Understand and enforce company culture, teamwork, safety, appropriate handling of materials in an BSL2 environment.
- Perform all activities in compliance with applicable regulations, AbbVie’s policies and guidelines.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's with 5-7+ years of experience or Master's in Biology or related discipline with 2-5+ years of experience.
- Experience in molecular assay development and optimization (e.g., PCR, Taqman assays, ddPCR).
- Experience on the characterization of rAAV or other viral vectors (e.g. lentivirus, Adenovirus).
- Successful track record of working in high-growth and dynamic organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Position will be filled at level commensurate with extent of education, experience, and accomplishment.
