Overview
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Deerfield Management have created the Center for Protein Degradation (CPD) at DFCI. The CPD has created a next-generation protein degrader and molecular glue platform to advance novel therapeutic modalities. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a newly founded research center that is pushing the boundaries of targeted Protein Degradation research and accelerating the translation of basic science into clinical solutions. Join our highly interactive team of scientists where we are creating new avenues of therapeutic intervention.
Our Culture
CPD believes...
learning is paramount, failure is necessary to succeed, and humility is an asset.
every individual should have the opportunity to provide and solicit feedback; asking for help is a strength.
in helping others succeed – we celebrate our successes together and recognize the contributions of the team.
in scientific excellence, challenging dogma, and asking “WHY?”
our research must push scientific boundaries and accelerate the discovery of transformational medicines.
CPD is seeking a computational scientist specialized in Machine Learning to join our team. The individual will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and apply state-of-the-art Machine Learning algorithms to the discovery of novel molecular glues. They will be centrally involved in various drug discovery projects, primarily in small molecular glue designs, as well as target identification.
Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.
Responsibilities
Develop Machine Learning (ML) methods to predict complex structures induced by molecular glues
Develop and integrate generative AI algorithms for the design of small molecular glues
Support the small molecule drug discovery projects at CPD using advanced ML methods
Work with leadership team to develop project proposals, timelines, and resource requirements. Ensure milestones and deliverables are reached on time
Work with biologists to apply ML methods for large dataset analysis (e.g., high content imaging, mass spectrometry)
Present project progress and outcomes to colleagues and leadership
Maintain organized and well documented software development practices
Keep up to date with current literature related to work and projects
Present and publish research externally
Qualifications
PhD in computational science & engineering, computer science, computational chemistry, or a related discipline with specialized training in Machine Learning and artificial intelligence with less than 5 years’ experience since their PhD
Knowledgeable of protein structure and small molecule protein interactions with deep understanding of current generative AI methods for molecular designs
Scientific drive and innovation, demonstrated by a proven track record of publications in peer reviewed journals and software tools
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
A strong team player who also demonstrates an ability to work independently
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; strong attention to detail
At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, we work every day to create an innovative, caring, and inclusive environment where every patient, family, and staff member feels they belong. As relentless as we are in our mission to reduce the burden of cancer for all, we are equally committed to diversifying our faculty and staff. Cancer knows no boundaries and when it comes to hiring the most dedicated and diverse professionals, neither do we. If working in this kind of organization inspires you, we encourage you to apply.
