Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Architect to join our dynamic team. As a GIS Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the overall GIS infrastructure to support the organization's geospatial needs. This role requires a strong background in GIS technology, data management, and architecture design.

Responsibilities:
- System Architecture Design:
- Develop and design robust GIS architecture to meet the organization's geospatial requirements.
- Create scalable and efficient systems that integrate with existing infrastructure.
- Ensure the architecture aligns with industry best practices and emerging GIS technologies.
- Database Management:
- Design and implement GIS databases for effective data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity.
- Stay updated on advancements in database technologies relevant to GIS.
- Spatial Data Integration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate spatial data from various sources into GIS systems.
- Implement data standards and protocols to maintain consistency and interoperability.
- Custom Development:
- Oversee the development of custom GIS applications and tools to meet specific organizational needs.
- Ensure that applications are user-friendly, scalable, and well-documented.
- System Maintenance and Support:
- Monitor and maintain the GIS infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for GIS-related issues.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other IT professionals, data scientists, and domain experts to integrate GIS solutions into broader organizational systems.
- Collaborate with external vendors and consultants when necessary.
Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a GIS Architect or in a similar role.
- Proficient in GIS software, including but not limited to Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, and open-source GIS tools.
- Strong knowledge of spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).
- Experience with GIS web services, APIs, and cloud-based GIS solutions.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GIS certification or professional accreditation.
- Experience with geospatial analytics and machine learning in a GIS context.
- Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in GIS.
- Ideal candidate would reside in the Pacific Northwest Region
