Form of workINNOVIM is seeking Scientific Information Services to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for Paleoclimate Proxies.
This position involves supporting the ingest, integration, quality control, management, archive, and dissemination of Paleoclimate Proxies collected in the United States and around the world. Paleoclimate data are derived from natural sources such as tree rings, ice cores, and ocean sediments, and they extend the instrumental climate record back by hundreds to millions of years. The World Data Service for Paleoclimatology (WDS-Paleo) is NCEI’s integrated paleoclimate proxy database.
Specific Duties/Requirements:
- Requires a background in the field of climate science; experience in the development of datasets, products, services, and reports derived from climatological data; and a record of sustaining operations, including data ingestion, quality assurance, data integration, data archive, and data access.
- Requires experience in the development and maintenance of operational software in a variety of programming languages and development environments, including, but not limited to, Oracle/APEX, Groovy, Java/Javascript, React, Spring, ArcGIS, Fortran, and Python.
Assist the Government in maintaining a Strategic Roadmap for WDS-Paleo, including the translation of user functional requirements into design specifications for software, database, and web development.
Provide full life cycle software engineering support to the WDS-Paleo.
- Code development, database development, web development, integration testing, readiness review, and operational release.
Experience/Education:
- 5 - 10 years experience in related services
- BS degree in related field
- MUST be a US Citizen
