Job Description
Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental capabilities to determine their specific needs and abilities.
- Evaluate patients' functional status and performance in activities of daily living (ADLs) to establish baseline data for treatment planning.
Treatment Planning and Implementation:
- Develop personalized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on the assessment results, patients' needs, and desired outcomes.
- Implement therapeutic interventions, exercises, and activities to improve patients' abilities to perform ADLs and develop essential skills for independent living.
Therapeutic Interventions:
- Administer a range of occupational therapy treatments, including manual therapies, therapeutic exercises, sensory integration, assistive device training, and adaptive equipment recommendations.
- Guide patients in developing strategies to enhance their motor skills, coordination, balance, and sensory integration.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Accurately document patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.
- Provide timely progress reports to other members of the healthcare team and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Patient Education and Counseling:
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic activities, exercises, and strategies to improve functioning and enhance their quality of life.
- Offer emotional support and guidance to help patients cope with challenges related to their conditions and improve their mental well-being.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on patients' progress and treatment plans.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and organizational policies to ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care.
- Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment and follow infection control protocols.
Education and Licensure:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current and valid licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
Experience:
- Previous experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred but not required.
