Title: School Safety Officer, Part-Time
Reports To: Campus Safety Supervisor
Employee Type: Part-Time, School Year Only, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Summary
Create a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors to the CCS campus. Monitor the physical safety of campus buildings and grounds by locking and unlocking doors, patrolling and monitoring, managing alarm/fire systems and reporting and responding to suspicious behavior. Strong focus on building and fostering relationships on campus with students and faculty to promote a sense of school community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Patrols and monitors assigned areas of the school buildings, grounds and parking lots to deter, detect, report and stop violations of the law and/or school policies
  • Detects, investigates and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles and activities
  • Detects, investigates and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles and activities
  • Notifies the administrative staff, police, fire department, or other appropriate authorities of security or emergency situations
  • Assists with fire drills and other emergency building evacuations
  • Maintains security records, logs and reports
  • Attends and successfully completes all staff development training as required by state law or directed by the Security Department
  • Enforces the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
  • Promotes good citizenship through actions as a role model
  • Conducts himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
  • Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with students and CCS employees
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students’ information, progress, and records
  • Assumes other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator
  • Abides by the CCS Employee Manual, CCS policies and procedures, and all current PA Public School expectations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D minimum
  • Current EMT Certification strongly preferred; Fire/ EMS Certifications preferred
  • Prior School Safety or security/ police experience preferred
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License issued by Pennsylvania
  • Must be able to use communication devices such as a radio, computer, and cell phone
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Be able to maintain accurate records
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated
  • Good organizational skills
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to originate strategic thinking and problem-solving
  • Required Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), all dated within one year of receipt
  • Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School
