What You'll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio School Safety Center
Report In Location - 1970 W Broad Street, Columbus 43223

[CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE] Will report into the office 3 days one week, then 2 days in office the next week. Subject to change.


Under direction of the Education & Support Services Administrator in the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC), provide program direction by relieving superior of variety of difficult administrative duties pertaining to School Safety Education Programs (e.g., manage & oversee activities & initiatives related to School Safety courses; respond to programmatic issues or needs of leadership, staff or participating organizations; independently answer questions related to School Safety courses or services; attend &/or conduct staff meetings to discuss rules & operating procedures; plan, write &/or implement program goals & objectives; transmit decisions &/or directives); Oversee all OSSC courses to include registration, assignments, marketing, & certificates; Ensure all courses that are open to the public are displayed on the OSSC webpage; Assign user roles, create learning paths &/or user groups, & track students pre-course requirements as needed; Ensure all course files & related documentation are historically preserved upon course completion; Provide end-user technical assistance; Identify any opportunities for process & quality improvements; Provide feedback on any defects that may be present; Regularly compile, review, & process course enrollment data; Generate transcript & database reports; Coordinate & develop age &/or grade appropriate trainings or marketing & outreach materials specific to offered courses & services for school resources officers, school counselors, educators, administrators, parents & community members; Conduct student & administrator focus groups to identify changes needed to the program; Manage all DPS forms & promotional materials related to OSSC courses; Annually review program components & contracts to determine areas for improvement; Assist with securing contracts related to course management services & budgeting; Manage booth at conferences &/or events; Analyze & evaluate programs, procedures & policies (e.g., develop & maintain program policies & procedures; provide recommendations for implementation of new policies & procedures; interpret new or updated legislation & provide technical advice to aid management staff in decision making).

Coordinate with the course committee to ensure all courses have successfully completed the approval process; Perform daily checks of course registrations & pre-course assignments for completion; Coordinate with field staff to ensure accurate information about locations, coordinating trainers contact info, venue contact, & completion of training; Identify trends in tips received from the tip line & offer course resources to the field staff in those locations; Assist with conducting research on course management programs & participate in working groups with staff on how to improve the system; Create & implement polices & procedures for course management; Coordinate & host regular meeting with stakeholders to discuss OSSC's course management system & how it can be improved.

Oversee the collection & reporting of data for all OSSC course & analyze annual data regarding courses to share information for the annual School Safety report; provide updates to the Governor's Ohio School Safety Working Group; Assist with the implementation of Ohio Revised Code requirements &/or changes as required in effected courses; Provide assistance with gathering data for public records requests & media inquiries; Assist other OSSC staff with coordination of the Annual School Safety Summit; Perform other related duties as assigned.

Program area to be assigned: Completion of undergraduate core program in homeland security, emergency management, political science, public safety, criminal justice, marketing, business or public administration or related field.

4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

-Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 1, 63122.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above
