Summary:
The primary job of a NorthRidge Yamaha Instructor is to inspire and motivate students to love music and help them use their gifts for God's glory. Teachers are to create an environment that will fully nurture and develop the musical interest, talent, and ability of each student.

Mission:
- Uphold the NorthRidge 16 Word Mission Statement. "Wake the World Up to Jesus. Show them His Love. Tell them His Truth. Involve Them.
- Instruct, inspire and motivate students to love music and grow as a performer. Provide ministry opportunities as possible.
Lesson Responsibilities:
- Be punctual, organized, and presentable. Arrive EARLY and make sure your room is ready. Start and end your class on time.
- Execute your lesson plans thoroughly. Engage each student throughout the lesson.
- Sustain and monitor the behavior and learning progress of each student and report to the Administrator before any parental discussion is had.
- Maintain care/responsibility for school-owned equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Make minor adjustments and request repairs to the equipment as required.
- Be flexible and generous with students who need extra time and assistance.
- Perform the administrative ask of filling the attendance sheet weekly and your timesheet monthly.
- Communicate announcements or other information to the students as directed by the school administrator.
- If the instructor is absent for a class and couldn't find a replacement, the instructor must record and post videos for the missed class in the Google Classroom.
- In the event of school closure due to a snow day, the instructor must provide live virtual instruction.
- In the event of prolonged school closure due to Covid-19, the instructor must provide live virtual instruction.
Events:
- Prepare students for any available performance opportunities, recitals or competitions.
Preparation:
- ALL Piano Homework needs to be submitted by Monday 9a each week via email... (no text messages!).
- Instructor needs to make sure the book #, page # and Cd track # are always included on the homework sheet.
- Instructor needs to make sure the homework is in page order-from lower to high page numbers.
- The Administrator will put the Piano Homework in the Google Sheet template (file named Piano Homework), print it and put it in the classroom bins at SOPA by 4p on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- The Administrator will post the appropriate week's Piano Homework in the Google Classrooms by 4p on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Help each student by providing weekly assignment sheets, creative assignments and creative touches for learning various skills.
- Edit to your taste the provided Yamaha lesson plans for each class-- using the Yamaha methods/materials so that YOU will fully engage students and parents throughout the class. Self-review the effectiveness of your lesson plans. Adjust and modify as necessary.
- Attend Teacher Trainings and Certifications as needed (administered by Yamaha).
- Clean/ sanitize room and surfaces including pianos and benches between each class.
Communication:
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, other teachers, and the Administrator regarding student progress and upcoming SOPA and NRC events.
- Report student and facility challenges in a timely manner to the SOPA Administrator.
- Communicate with everyone in a respectful, professional manner that avoids damaging or hurtful criticism, gossip, favoritism, defeatism, spreading of rumors, or other destructive behavior that does not honor God or NorthRidge Church.
- Communicate announcements or other information to the students as directed by the school Administrator.
- If you must be absent for a class, be sure to do your best to find a replacement, and communicate this to the Administrator via email in a timely manner.
