Under the direction of the High School Principal, the School Counselor provides a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for students in order to enhance student achievement; addresses the social, emotional, educational, and occupational needs of students; communicates frequently with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to improve students' education; and frequently monitors assigned students for credit deficiency and provides immediate intervention.

Education and Experience:
1. Master's Degree, required.
2. Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential, with an authorization in School Counseling, required.
3. Two (2) years of post-PPS credential experience in a related field, preferred.
4. Biliterate ability, preferred.
Knowledge of:
1. College, university, and technical school entrance requirements, including, but not limited to, A-G requirements.
2. Current career and job market opportunities, trends, and community needs.
3. Effective strategies to counsel students in need of academic, social-emotional, career, and disciplinary guidance.
4. Grade reports, academic standing statistics, credit recovery systems, and school intervention programs.
5. Master scheduling parameters for student schedule changes.
6. Conflict resolution strategies.
7. District and school policies, rules, and regulations.
District paid medical, dental, vision, and prescription plans are provided for employee and dependents, up to a $14,800 district contribution.
