QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BA or higher in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling Education or related field preferred. New Jersey DOE certification required.
2. A minimum (5) years of instructional experience or minimum (5) years of experience as a Social Worker, Psychologist, Counselor or relevant outside experience; knowledge of school Turnaround Principles;
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to analyze data; and have understanding of educational policy and practice.
4. Experience in consensus building; ability to motivate and inspire a diverse set of stakeholders toward a common goal.
DUTIES:
1. Works closely with the Building Principal, Vice Principal, School Leadership Team, and Parent Liaisons implementing the plan for Climate and Culture.
  1. Along with the Principal, establishes an integrated systems of intervention (known by all school staff) that promote health development and prevents problems, and responds to problems as early as feasible (engaging in reflective analysis to identify and solve problems associated with student achievement and development) , and provides assistance for those with serious persistent problems.
  2. Develops partnership with the community through enhanced communication and outreach.
  3. Increase use of volunteers in schools, integration service learning, and opportunities for members of business and local government to connect with students and the schools.
  4. Regularly surveys students, staff, parents and community members regarding School Climate and create opportunities for staff members to participate in professional learning communities (PLC) specific to Climate and Culture.
  5. Evaluates school policies to determine if they are supportive of a comprehensive system that encourages students to be engaged (feeling a sense of belonging, connectedness and competency); address barriers to learning and teaching, and re-engages students.
  6. Provides and coordinates professional development for teachers on best practices related to positive Climate and Culture within schools.
  7. Use the school's climate assessment and improvement efforts as a method to coordinate Academic, Behavioral and Home-School-Community community initiatives.
  8. Works collaboratively with the Principal to analyze all suspension, discipline and attendance data monthly, documenting specific trends and recommendations for improvement.
  9. Schedule supports for teachers through sessions inclusive of demonstration lessons, mentoring, and coaching to classroom and instructional support teaching staff.
  10. Accesses classrooms to gather data on best practices for culture and climate trends.
  11. Works with school staff in leading the effective implementation and continuous improvement of a school wide program designed to improve Climate and Culture.
  12. Works collaboratively with staff to develop a strategic implementation plan for improving Climate and Culture.
  13. Works with staff to develop a system for measuring culture and climate improvements including, but not limited to, attendance data, discipline data, student achievement data and climate survey responses.
  14. Provides professional development to school leaders, family and staff designed to increase their skill level in developing academic, social, and emotional supports for students.
  15. Prepares reports and maintains a coaching portfolio.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months Position
SALARY: In Accordance with TEA Contract
