Summary: Responsible for the supervision and coordination of the food service program in the building.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for receiving, storing, handling, preparing and serving of food according to established standards.
- Implements planned quality menus incorporating time-saving production techniques, effective merchandising and appealing quality products.
- Ensure staff properly follows recipes to ensure correct nutritional requirements are fulfilled for students in accordance with USDA regulations.
- Provide support for students with special dietary needs under the direction of the Food Service Director and according to district and department policies and procedures
- Ensure high standards of health and safety in all food service facilities.
- Creates accurate weekly food orders.
- Keep accurate daily production records for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
- Utilize work simplification techniques and practice cost containment techniques.
- Maintains cafeteria staff training records as required for USDA Professional Standards requirements, according to department procedures.
- Provide training on the proper and safe use of equipment and monitor staff to ensure protocol is followed.
- Operate and maintain a variety of kitchen equipment in an efficient, effective, and safe manner.
- Creates, maintains, and monitors employee schedules and work assignments under the direction of the Food Service Director.
- Assumes responsibility for catering, which includes but is not limited to, creating the original invoice, purchasing items for customers, providing staff for food preparation, clean up, and serving if needed.
- Ensures that all employees and customers are treated with respect.
- Serves as role model to cafeteria staff in providing exceptional customer service to students, parents and building staff.
- Continue professional development by attending seminars, webinars and workshops.
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
- Performs duties as requested from the Foodservice Director.
- Point of contact for the day-to-day functions of the building cafeteria.
- Person who is ultimately responsible for ensuring the program is consistent with department parameters and goals, while also ensuring district policies are followed.
- Other job duties may include, but are not limited to, cooking, dishwashing, cashiering, cleaning, handling stock and/or any other duties involved in the daily school foodservice operations.
Employee Physical Requirements:
- Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Recurring motions of bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, or similar activities.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- May be required to work in excessive heat, humidity, and/or significant temperature variations in association with the kitchen environment.

- Promotes good public relations for the School Corporation and community.
- Remains free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the work place throughout his/her employment in the corporation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises all cafeteria employees within the school building.

Pay: $21.56 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
