Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm
Job Summary: The Scholarly Communication Specialist develops and supports the promotion of Scholarly Communications and library resources. Coordinates events with vendors. Develops outreach materials to support training and engagement efforts in areas such as copyright, open access, open educational resources, and fair use. Maintains unit documentation as needed. Creates reports related to Scholarly Communications and acquisitions.
Additional Department Summary: This position is responsible for developing and supporting the promotion of Scholarly Communications and library resources. This includes coordinating events with vendors and developing outreach materials to support training and engagement efforts in areas such as copyright, open access, open educational resources, and fair use. The position maintains unit documentation as needed and creates reports related to Scholarly Communications and acquisitions. This requires effective written and verbal communication with multiple stakeholders.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of libraries experience; OR master's degree and some libraries experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and at least one (1) year of library experience OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Experience with multiple library management software applications, including an extensive understanding of the Integrated Library System, Voyager.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong initiative and self-motivation. Knowledge of standard software programs (i.e., word processing, spreadsheet applications, database management, etc.) and additional functional abilities to work within photo editing and graphic design software. Experience using computers, office productivity software, and photo editing and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud). Knowledge of local practices for receiving and processing federal depository materials and experience with retrospective cataloging and relocation of Government Documents. Advanced knowledge of the SuDoc classification system for cataloging and organizing government publications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail. Ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent organizational and project management skills. Advanced knowledge of Voyager, DSpace, and LibApps. Experience creating and managing new workflow to support organizational restructuring. Knowledge of original, complex, or copy cataloging for new incoming depository materials and other materials received in University Libraries.
