Position Overview:
Responsible for scheduling cases for the Surgical Services Dept. Enters patient billable charges into the charge master. Reconciles and verifies patient charges for all cases. Collects and organizes daily schedules. Collects, prints and distributes monthly reports. Collaborates with doctors/office personnel to acquire accurate information for scheduling of cases and needed equipment. Enters OR/SDS schedule into Meditech. Prints schedule sheets and delivers to admissions. Reports block releases to Director. Secretarial duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
a) Works as the primary liaison to doctors' offices. Resolves scheduling conflicts.
b) Works as scheduler to ensure consistent scheduling practices are followed.
c) Works closely with staff nurses and surgical support services coordinators.
d) Collaborates with Unit Clerk to complete unit task as necessary.
d) Performs duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Qualifications & Skills:
a) Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
b) Training & Experience: Minimum of 2 years secretarial experience. Medical terminology and computer.
knowledge required. Successful completion of BLS certification.
c) Job Knowledge: Encompass a wide range of secretarial, computer and medical information, which
includes communication, problem solving and prioritizing skills.
