Gear Motions - Nixon Gear Division, a successful, growing progressive ISO 9000 registered company seeks a full time seeking an experienced Materials Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for planning and coordination of activities related to the procurement, receipt, scheduling, and storage of direct and indirect materials. Participates in the implementation of advanced systems and practices to continually improve customer delivery.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares, maintains and implements short and long-term manufacturing plans on Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) to meet customer requirements while maintaining material at the lowest possible inventory level.
- Prepare, coordinate, and communicate schedules to the manufacturing floor. Works with Vice President and employees to ensure schedule is followed to meet company and customer goals and objectives. Direct resources where needed.
- Plans and manages the preparation and implementation of short and long-range shipping and receiving plans to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Plans and manages the preparation and implementation of short and long-range inventory plans for raw material, work in process, components, and finished goods to minimize material cost, inventory, while meeting customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate and conduct weekly backlog meetings with Vice President. Results to be communicated to all affected employees and customers.
- Provides manpower and equipment capacity requirements to the Management Team in support of APS to proactively plan for adjustments to manpower and equipment capacity on a continuous basis.
- Informs the purchasing activity with respect to all materials, supplies, and services required to maintain schedules. Coordinates and facilitates actions accordingly.
- Participates in contract review; works with department managers to develop new-work manufacturing strategies.
- Monitors and performs periodic audits on all phases of inventory, procedures, and controls and maintains a constant awareness of status, providing for alternate plans in the event of unforeseen contingencies, including, but not limited to: material shortages, material rejections, new priorities, etc.
