JOB SUMMARY:
Schedules operative procedures via electronic scheduling system, using knowledge of procedures, area of body involved, equipment conflicts, staffing, surgeon preferences, scheduling habits and suite utilization. Works independently at the information desk, contacting patient care areas, takes messages and communicates to appropriate person.
Direct supervisor of OR schedulers and the OR scheduling department, managing payroll, training, time and attendance policies, ensuring level of productivity of the scheduling team. Work alongside perioperative management to roll out new initiatives, measure metrics, follow policies and communicate changes across the board.
Experience working collaboratively in a matrixed environment with surgeons, surgical coordinators, health information management, coding and billing, and other relevant departments.
Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments, i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas, and medical errors, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma required. Medical background and prior supervision experience preferred.
Six to twelve months prior experience in secretarial position required. Medical background preferred. Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.
