How will your role impact First Command?

As part of the SBA Team, the SBA Processor will need to know all aspects of SBA lending from loan origination through loan closing and servicing. Processor will need to know SBA loan documentation and commercial loan documentation, as well as, how to perfect security interest in collateral, and how to close and fund loans.  Knowledge of Small Business Administration “SBA” lending program is a must. Candidate should be up to date on current SBA SOP guidelines and changing regulations related to the banking industry and the SBA 7a loan programs.  Possess the ability to work independently as well as with team members.  Efficiently manage multiple loan files, provide high level customer service, while coordinating with third party vendors, insurance providers, attorneys, and title companies.  Candidate should have high attention to detail, good organizational skills, and interpersonal communications skills.    

 

What will you be doing?

  • The SBA Loan Processor is responsible for packaging SBA loan application files including loan documentation in LaserPro, closing and funding of Small Business Administration (SBA) loans. Processor will work in conjunction with other SBA team members to successfully process SBA loan requests from application through closing and funding.  Processor shall review loans for SBA eligibility and have strong SBA application and servicing knowledge.
  • Maintain SBA loan files in the SBA electronic folders and banks loan platform systems; loan documentation; ensure the loan file accurately reflects the approved loan terms and protects the SBA Guaranty; Prepare and submit SBA application documents for signature and submission to SBA (Delegated or Non-Delegated Authority), as applicable. Review of Synergy storage files and core system loan data input for compliance with Bank and SBA loan approvals.
  • Ensure funds are disbursed correctly, per the SBA loan approval, collect closing fees and pay the SBA guarantee fee; Complete Pre-Closing or Post-Closing checklist and coordinate secondary review by team member; track and clear all post-closing tickler items within a reasonable period after closing. Prepare monthly 1502 report for submission to Fiscal Transfer Agent and submit servicing fee payments to SBA. Monitor SBA loan reports for prepayments, payoffs, and past dues. 
  • Order third party searches and reports; review and acceptance of title insurance (including, but not limited to, exceptions and endorsements), prepare title instruction letters and review to ensure all collateral is properly identified. Coordinate closing with title company, attorneys, escrow agents, and insurance companies; ensure everyone understands each party’s responsibilities and timing requirements.
  • Ensure all application and closing documents are prepared and executed according to the SBA Loan approval; process post-closing disbursements; conduct SBA loan servicing actions and modifications. Assist Asset Management with workout and liquidation.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the SBA SOP, required forms, and application documents; Attend specialty trainings and/or courses, as directed by leadership; Interact with internal and external clients; Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work; Maintain confidentiality; adhere to Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Possess the ability to learn and efficiently use required lending software and other programs that support the SBA loan process. 

        

What skills/qualifications do you need?

Education 

  • Business or Financial Major/Minor, preferred.
  • High School diploma and relevant work experience

 

Work Experience

  • 5+ years in Commercial Bank lending 
  • Business, Professional, Commercial and Industrial Lending experience a plus
  • 3+ years SBA lending experience 
  • Ability to navigate the SBA SOP 50 10 Updates 
  • Familiar with ETRAN & 1502 reporting

 

Certifications 

  • NAGGL Certifications or similar SBA industry training a plus

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of customers, clients, vendors, and internal partners. Ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and work in a deadline-driven, dynamic environment.
  • Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, accountability, and attention to detail with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance; both onsite and remote work
