WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
Performs any combination of tasks associated with the Saw Operator classification to assist in machine shop activities. Performs more advanced machining and warehousing tasks; performs other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS ROLE
● Loads and unload materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks manually or using hoist, fork-lift, cart, walk behind lift, pallet jack or other material handling devices.
● Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas or staging locations manually in containers or by using hoist fork-lift, cart, walk behind lift, pallet jack or other material handling devices.
● Lifts metal part or stock onto machine manually or using hoist, fork-lift, walk behind lift or other material handling device and secures it on machine table, in chuck, or holding fixture, using wrenches, clamps, and levers.
● Feeds metal parts or stock into automatic or manual metal working machines and removes machined part from machine after prescribed period of time or at end of machining cycle.
● Add coolant to reservoirs of machines and lubricate machine parts and ways, using grease gun and oilcan.
● Reclaims cutting and lubricating oils from machines by pumping oil from machine reservoir into barrel, dumping oil from barrel into centrifugal separator that removes metal chips and dirt from oil, and drains clean oil from separator into containers.
● Cleans around work areas, using broom and shovel.
● Operates manual and power material handling equipment including powered industrial trucks.
● Reads tape measure and accurately cuts material. Can convert fractions to decimals easily.
● Other duties as assigned.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS OF THIS ROLE
● May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
● May perform a wide variety of preliminary and/or secondary machining operations to prepare parts for machining, welding and/or assembly.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
● High School Diploma or GED
