Job description

Sanitation Operator
JOB SUMMARY: Performs routine cleaning and sanitation throughout the plant and may also operate machinery.
Reports To: Quality Control Manager
Responsibilities:
    • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly cleaning requirements of facility and equipment according to the master sanitation schedule (MSS)
    • Clean and sanitize equipment as well as cleaning of interior and exterior of the building.
    • Operates and adjusts the machine keeping constantly alert to operating functions ensuring that products are met. Track & input daily operations and packaging usage. Required to perform check of equipment performance and record daily.
    • Dispose of refuse as needed.
    • Maintains records and daily logs.
    • Follows established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's) and Safety Policies while performing job duties.
    • Read chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for proper chemical handling.
    • Support other sanitation personnel as needed.
    • Maintain inventory levels for contract laundry services and chemicals.
    • Other duties, responsibilities and/or tasks as assigned.

Special Skills/Training
    • Ability to read, write, and understand English. (Without an interpreter)
    • Ability to work in a team environment in a positive manner of respect, cooperation & flexibility.
    • Good work ethic and ability to work independently.
    • Requires operation of machinery, forklifts, scissor lift, sweepers, scrubbers etc.
    • Contribute within a team environment leading to process improvements.
    • Possesses willingness to learn and operate other machines.

Experience/Education
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Prior food processing and machine sanitation experience required.

Physical Requirements
    • Able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
    • Ability to climb ladders.
    • Prolonged standing and repetitive bending.
    • Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as necessary.

Working Conditions
    • Mostly inside an industrial food grade facility.
    • Smock, hairnet (beard net if necessary) are required within the facility.
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are required within the facility and when using chemicals.
    • Occasional outside work is necessary.
    • There is a high level of noise while the plant is in production.
