Performs skilled work in the operation of heavy duty equipment and trucks and other complex construction and maintenance equipment utilized by the Utilities Division.The following duties are normal for this position. Operates of equipment with complex control system requiring a high degree of manipulative skills and dexterity.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment and for performing routine pre and post operational checks and routine preventive maintenance.
Operates Vac Trucks to clean sanitary sewer and storm drain systems including but not limited to jetting pipes, clean manholes, catch basins, covered trenches, wells and other appurtenances
May be serve as crew leader over a small field crew of Equipment Operators and laborers.
On-call after regular working hours, as necessary for emergency calls.
Operates tools and equipment such as hand tools, minor power tools, and pressure cleaner.
Cleans equipment and makes minor repairs.
Completes written daily activity summaries.
Assists with the preparation for special events.
Responds, as required to emergencies such as hurricanes and other disasters.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
Conforms with all safety rules which include wearing and using all appropriate safety equipment.

Minimum two (2) years of experience operating one or more pieces of equipment such as: Grader, large tractors, transport, asphalt distributer, self propelled, roller, hydrolift, bucket truck, endloader, semi truck (water), auger (drill), root cutter, stump grinder, street sweeper, jet vac (sewer), tractor-trailer transport, tandem dump truck, forklift, skid loader (bob cat), pontoon boat, trailer mounted pressure cleaner.
Valid Florida Class A (CDL) commercial driver's license.
CDL requirement may be waived for up to 120 days but must be obtained by the end of the 120 days for continued employment; as long as employee has a valid Florida Driver's License.
Operator Level 1 Certificate, Florida Stormwater Association.
Operation and Maintenance of Wastewater Collection System Certificate, California State University.
A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.
