Job Summary: Responsible for efficiently and safely operating machinery and equipment in the Sand Casting process. This role involves preparing molds, melting and pouring metal, and overseeing the entire casting process to ensure the production of high-quality metal castings.
Key Responsibilities:
Mold Preparation: Set up and prepare molds for casting, ensuring they meet specifications and quality standards.
Assemble and secure pattern equipment, cores, and gating systems within molds.
Melting and Pouring: Operate and monitor furnace equipment to melt metal (such as iron, aluminum, or brass) to the required temperature.
Pour molten metal into prepared molds using established procedures and safety protocols.
Quality Control: Inspect molds and castings for defects, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Use measuring instruments to verify the dimensions and quality of castings.
Sand Handling: Handle and prepare molding sand, ensuring proper composition and consistency.
Operate sand mixing equipment to create molds with the desired properties.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on foundry equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Collaboration: Work closely with team members, including pattern makers, molders, and other foundry personnel, to achieve production goals.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments to coordinate workflow.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production data, including quantities produced, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Complete the required paperwork and documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in Sand Casting Foundry operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of metal casting processes, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.29 - $20.82 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
