Abrasive Vapor Blasting Technician

Summary/Objective:
The Sand Blasting Technician is responsible for the process for removing contaminants from a surface or finishing a surface using pressurized water and abrasive blast media. The Sand Blasting Technician will perform a wide range of physical activities that require strength and flexibility of whole body for handling, positioning, moving, and manipulating equipment and materials, emergency response, equipment operation, project site setup, mobilization, chemical handling, site remediation and process verification and walk throughs.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and set up all necessary cleaning equipment such as high-pressure pumps, in accordance with operational and training and guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and practices, including but not limited to personal protective gear.
  • Ability to work safely in and around heavy machinery in loud, hazardous, and heavy industrial settings.
  • Manually clean, install, fit repair valves, caps, hoses, pumps, gaskets, and all other external and internal equipment on tanks.
  • Assist in the inspection of equipment, hoses, connections, pumps, and general work area prior to starting any job.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Oil and gas contractor experience required.
  • General labor experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel for extended periods of time
  • Respond to emergency calls 24 hours, 7 days a week if called upon.
  • Must be capable of passing a hair follicle drug screen
  • Must be capable of obtaining a TWIC card if work site requires it.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time within a confined space, in extreme temperature environments and at high elevation.
  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with training and standard operating procedures, Ability to understand and follow specific procedures and directions.
  • Ability to lift, move and handle up to 50lb hoses

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, move and handle up to 50lb hoses
  • Physically capable of standing and/or walking continuously for long periods of time if necessary.
  • Physically capable of climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, and kneeling continuously.
  • Physically capable of climbing ladders and scaffolds (vertical and inclined) to heights more than 10’ ft.
  • Physically capable of crouching, pushing, pulling, squatting, and working above the shoulders during the performance of a daily job routine
