Until filledOverview: This position provides occupational therapy services to Easton's elementary and middle schools, including attending Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings where appropriate and/or submitting written reports to the student(s) case manager. Updating student IEPs quarterly will be a requirement as well as keeping written records of therapy sessions and student absences. Other duties may be required as mutually agreed upon by the Occupational Therapist and the Director of Special Education. The Occupational Therapist functions as a member of the special education team in providing special education services to students with disabilities.

Salary: Based on salary experience - in the $70,000 to $80,000 range per school year.
Scheduled Hours:
The Occupational Therapist will work a paid 7.25 hour day, arriving one-half hour before school starts for children and staying one-half hour after the students are dismissed for the day. The position follows the teacher schedule, working 186 contractual days per year.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct and indirect occupational therapy services as specified by each students' Individual Education Program (IEP) plan.
- Plans, implements and monitors activities that allow students to access and benefit from their specialized instruction (includes academic performance, fine and gross motor functioning, positioning, daily living skills, play/leisure skills, work skills, and sensory-motor activities.
- Assesses and makes environmental and other adaptations to allow students to access and benefit from their program of specialized instruction.
- Provides training to special education paraeducators and others as appropriate, in carrying out day-to-day activities designed to enhance the students' physical, motor and sensory functioning.
- Maintains an inventory of District OT assistive equipment.
- Consults with teachers, school administration, parents and others as appropriate, regarding students' physical, motor, and sensory development.
- Appropriate license for occupational therapy in the state of CT

- Ability to meet the diverse and developmental learning needs of elementary and middle-school aged learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum a plus
