We are seeking a talented and experienced Salon Assistant with exceptional braiding skills to join our team at Scales Studios. As a Salon Assistant, you will work closely with our stylists and clients, providing support and assistance in various salon operations. Your expertise in braiding hair will be crucial in delivering high-quality hair services to our diverse clientele.

Responsibilities:

• Assist stylists with various tasks, including preparing clients for their appointments, shampooing and conditioning hair, and applying hair treatments.
• Offer exceptional customer service by greeting and attending to clients, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their salon experience.
• Demonstrate expertise in various braiding techniques, including but not limited to cornrows, box braids, twists, and braided updos.
• Provide braiding services to clients, showcasing your skill and creativity in achieving their desired styles.
• Consult with clients to understand their hair care needs, preferences, and desired outcomes, and offer professional advice and recommendations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with salon standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
• Assist with inventory management by monitoring and restocking hair products, tools, and equipment.
• Stay up-to-date with current industry trends, techniques, and products related to braiding and hair care.
• Collaborate with the salon team to create a positive and welcoming environment for clients.

Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a salon or beauty-realted setting is preffered but not required
• Proven experience with Braiding techniques, including cornrows and box braids.
• Strong knowledge of hair care products, tools, and equipment used in braiding.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work.
• Professional and friendly demeanor.
• Flexibility to work some evenings and some holidays as required.
• A portfolio showcasing your braiding work is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and salon professionals.
• Attention to detail for providing precise services to clients.

Please note that this position may require some evening and weekend availability based on salon hours of operation.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Apprenticeship

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 32 per week
