The Data Quality Lead Engineer is the most qualified individual contributor across the Data Quality engineering job family. The role has a dedicated focus on Data Quality, controls, validations, substantial subject matter expertise between the business and IT, general data-related lights on activities and assurance for overall standards and compliance for optimum quality related to project work. Incumbents are responsible for the quality of the work as it relates to the architecture, development, and visualization for data related responsibilities. This role is accountable for driving improvement and for Data Quality processes and optimization.


  • Leverage technology to automate and optimize validations, profile data, implement business rules, visualize results, and work with data stewards in all applications/lines of business to address any Data Quality issues. Develop and implement Data Quality Standards to ensure compliance and best business practices are upheld across the corporation.
  • Provide the highest level of subject matter expertise between the business and IT, leveraging extensive knowledge of the assigned areas of the enterprise, to ensure the data requirements are accurate and specific, and to ensure output meets the acceptance criteria.
  • Design, build, and implement robust validations, superior controls using point-to-point testing, and source to target mapping to ensure high quality results for all data implementations and projects. Troubleshoot, analyze, trace, identify, and resolve root causes of quality issues which involves dissecting Stored Procedures, STTM documents and source data. Work collaboratively with other IT stakeholders on architecture/ query/stored procedure changes where applicable.
  • Monitor controls and lead remediation as required. Approve control methodology, frequency, and oversight.
  • Oversee and review the Data Quality related work of lower-level engineers, peers, or other team members, acting as an upper escalation point or coaching peers when appropriate.

 

Additional Responsibilities
  • Supports data governance (DG) initiatives including profiling of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and other DG responsibilities as required.

Education

Bachelor Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: IT, Data, Information Systems. (Required)

Master Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: business, management, IT, Data, Information Systems. (Preferred)

Required Experience
  • 7 or more years Data Quality, validations, controls, testing, source to target mapping, project management.
  • 5 or more years of Salesforce experience
Preferred Experience
  • 5 or more years banking/line of business experience.
Certifications
  • Data Governance Certification (Dataversity, ICCP, CDMP, or others). (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Technical Acumen (Python, SQL, SAS, and/or other technical tools) (Required)
  • Great communication to bridge the gap between the business and IT (Required)

 


This role may perform other job duties as assigned by the manager. This includes but is not limited to, understanding and identifying compliance risks impacting their department(s), ensuring compliance with applicable laws or regulations, and escalating compliance risks to the appropriate level of management.
