Job description

Job Title:Sales Manager, for Protect® Specialty Ingredients and TrueSampler™Auto-Sampling product line for Hollison™.

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and hard working passionate sales Manager to join our team, specializing in probiotics and Specialty Ingredients focused on the companion animal space and the human food space. This role will also be responsible for selling automated sampling equipment into the same industries. As the Sales Manager, you will play a critical role in growing this exciting business in 2 of the fastest growing areas of the human and pet food industries. This position requires an in depth understanding of the pet food industry as well as the human food industry and the drive to open new doors and penetrate new spaces in each of these markets without hesitation. A minimum of 3 years selling Specialty Ingredients into the pet food or human food industry is a must for this role.

It will be important to understand the value we bring to the space and how to sell our innovative technologies along with our ability to customize solutions for the industries we are focused on. This sales focused individual will need to apply their passion to selling in a fast growing space and for researching consumer preferences and where these will take this innovative pet space to. Excellent speaking and written communication skills are critical for this role. It is important to be able to present internally to team members and management and externally to customers on a regular basis. The candidate should be comfortable initiating new projects from ideas that are supported by consumer research and customer feedback.

Responsibilities:

1. Take leads and follow up on them based on passed interactions with the company and set up new appointments for online video meetings or face to face meetings.

· Utilize the company’s CRM system to enter new leads and track customer interactions in the system consistently with thorough follow up.

· Be very comfortable initiating contact with first time prospects and be very comfortable cold calling new prospects and targets.

· Is not afraid to initiate new conversations with new target customers.

· Has the ability and the desire to work with sales leadership to develop go-to-market strategies and engage new customers through digital marketing efforts and be able to set up 1st time meetings with new customers.

· Is comfortable providing weekly updates on sales activities

2. Business Acumen & Selling Skills:

· The candidate must possess strong business communication skills and recognizes when to ask appropriate sales questions at the appropriate time.

· Has a strong follow up routine and understands the importance of regular follow-up with customers on specific projects and opportunities.

· Understands the importance of progressing customer relationships and progressing opportunities and is comfortable talking about sales opportunity progressions with internal management and with customers.

· Possess excellent soft communication skills and relationship development.

· Must be able to prepare for sales calls on own and utilizes a professional sales preparation model to research customers and prepare a list of well thought out questions that are relevant to the customer based on the research done on the customer.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration:

· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product management, and operations, to ensure seamless product launches and ongoing management of the product launch.

· Collaborate with sales team to help generate leads from marketing efforts and set up new customer meetings with the sales team.

· Help maintain the company’s CRM system and regularly input sales related data into the system.

4. Sales negotiation and closing skills:

· Must be comfortable closing sales deals and opportunities and utilize a provided process for doing so.

· Must be coachable and be comfortable talking about tactics, techniques and be able to use constructive feedback to improve process

· Be able to put together proposals and be able to negotiate from those proposals based on alignment with management.

· Must be willing to help manage coordination of trade show activities for the company and be a team player to do whatever is required to make tradeshows successful.

Qualifications/Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, food science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

· Willing to travel up to 50% for customer visits, tradeshows and company headquarter meetings.

  • 3-5 years experience as a Sales associate, Account executive or Sales Manager in the pet food or human food industries.
  • Possess a passion for companion animals and the desire to improve the health and quality of life of companion animals
  • In-depth knowledge of probiotics, food ingredients, and the broader food industry.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
