This vital role is responsible for the marketing and sales of all co-products for GPC through market knowledge and a thorough understanding of how the market impacts GPC products.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position supervises the Co-Product Sales Merchandiser.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate and maintain relationships with GPC customers through phone calls and in-person visits, and will also assist in coordinating logistics of rail, truck and barge shipments of products to customers.
- Market and sell all co-products for both GPC facilities, located in Muscatine, IA and Washington, IN
- Manage accounts and effectively enhance co-product revenue
- This role serves as a back up to the Director of Co-Product Sales and maintain relationships with customers via phone calls and customer visits
- Must possess strong negotiation skills, be self-motivated, and be able to travel to existing and potential customers
- Must be able work independently and research new market opportunities
- Must know the markets and understand how they impact the Co-products that GPC markets in coordinating logistics of rail, truck, and barge shipments
- Assist in the execution of hedging Co-Products
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related degree preferred, i.e. Supply Logistics required
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 or more years of grain/coproduct sales OR trading experience in the Ag Industry required
- Strong computer skills, specifically able utilize all functions of Excel
- Understanding of futures and Options and related exchange traded instruments
- Understanding of Over-the-Counter and other financial instruments for hedging
- Excellent negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent decision making, people management, and negotiation skills
- Ability to think and act independently within policy and guidelines
- Ability and attitude to provide assistance to the team as whole when gaps are identified, or personnel needs present opportunities
- Team builder and change agent
- Ability to engage, communicate & influence all stakeholders (internal & external) and establish trust and credibility with business unit leaders & other functional stakeholders
- Honest with high degree of personal integrity and strong ethical business values
- Experience with wet milling or ethanol industry is desirable, but not necessary
- Experience in trading commodities, hedging, futures and options beneficial
