GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible duties assisting sales person with loading and delivering plants to sales locations. This includes building and maintaining plant displays, interacting with customers and sales location employees. This position will assist the sales representative with driving duties.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Loading and unloading plant shipping racks from trucks.
▪ Assist with plant rack preparation, e.g. painting, assembling, etc.
▪ Building and maintaining plant display racks and systems at sales locations.
▪ Culling dead and/or distressed plants from displays and loading them into truck for disposal.
▪ Answering customer questions and helping sales location employees with inquiries. ▪ Cleaning delivery truck.
▪ Fueling truck.
▪ Assist Sales Rep with daily truck inspection and compliance with DOT rules and regulations.
▪ Loading and unloading plants from plant shipping racks.
▪ Assisting Sales Rep with safe truck operations, e.g. backing, parking, turning, etc.
▪ Operate lift gate on truck.
▪ Secure plant shipping racks in truck and ensure load is balanced.
▪ Assist Sales Rep with plant orders and paperwork and help verify proper shipment loading and organization.
▪ Any other common duties associated with plant loading and delivery.
▪ Assist with and/or perform additional duties as required by operating needs of the company as directed by management.
▪ Promptness and regular attendance are essential to performance of this job. Any absence at work puts a hardship on the company, absences should be minimal.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education and Experience: None.
Licenses and/or Certificates: Valid Driver’s License.
If required must be able to pass Commercial Motor Vehicle medical certification and driving history check as well as a DOT drug test.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
▪ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
▪ Ability to take and follow directions and ability to work with little to no supervision. 13
▪ Ability to meet the expected efficiencies identified while being safe and accurate.
▪ Ability to work in a fast-paced sales and delivery environment.
▪ Ability to frequently climb into and out of a truck cab and back of truck.
▪ Ability to safely operate a truck lift gate as well as load and unload plant shipping racks from truck.
▪ Ability to interact with customers and employees of sales locations.
▪ Ability to wear gloves and other safety devices as required.
▪ Must be able to qualify to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (medical certification, driving history and DOT drug test).
▪ If required must be able to operate a straight truck.
▪ Ability to travel overnight and for long periods of time.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Working Conditions: Both indoor and outside work environments. Occasionally exposed to extreme cold and hot temperatures, wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
Risk/Safety Conditions: Moving mechanical parts and machinery, electrical shock, vibration, airborne particles, loud noise levels, high temperatures, hazardous materials.
Essential Physical Activities: Walking, sitting, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, talking, prolonged standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception, regularly lift 50 pounds, occasionally lift 60 pounds, climbing, crawling, stooping, crouching and wearing gloves and dust masks.
