Job Purpose: The Sales Estimator collaborates closely with external clients, including Construction Managers, General Contractors, and Architectural Design Teams, to establish project costing for contract sales. This role provides an opportunity for the individual to gain diverse experience in document review, scope selection, relationship building, client development, construction sequencing, vendor management, and assistance with contract procurement and negotiation. The candidate will play a vital role in the company's success and have opportunities for professional growth.
Position Summary: The Sales Estimator is responsible for reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and estimate the required resources for project completion. This role is integral to ensuring accurate project cost assessments.
Essential Job Functions:
· Identify labor, material, and resource requirements for project costs by thoroughly reviewing proposals, architectural drawings, and specifications.
· Develop and nurture positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and colleagues to strengthen the company's position and foster repeat business.
· Obtain quotes (RFQ’s) from vendors for items not fabricated in our shop but included in the scope of work.
· Maintain organized files of working documents supporting estimates, including supplier prices, price lists, etc.
· Enhance product offering options through Value Engineering.
· Communicateideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude.
· Aim to maintain an average bid amount and win rate consistent of the company goals set place for the year.
Sales Focus:
· Leverage sales strategies to contribute to the growth and success of the company.
· Provide a best-in-class client experience by presenting meaningful contributions to the design-assistance process, innovative value engineering solutions, comprehensive pre-construction project assistance, and concise, articulate collaborative interactions.
· Develop strong relationships and ensure close collaboration and communication with owners, decision-makers, construction managers, architects, engineers, and other external customers critical to a project’s success.
· Experience/Background:
· Familiarity with standard commercial and cabinet/casework materials and construction.
· Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost coding systems.
· Knowledge or experience with Takeoff Software, ERP software, BlueBeam, Revu, and MS Excel.
· Familiarity with Architectural Woodworking Institute (AWI) standards.
· Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Exhibit self-motivation and strong attention to detail.
· Possess critical thinking, complex problem-solving, and evaluation skills.
· Ability to use MS Teams, Zoom, or equivalent effectively.
