Sales Associate - Part-Time

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and contributing to the overall sales performance of the store. This role requires a strong understanding of the products and services offered by The Marine Shop, as well as a commitment to providing a positive customer experience.

This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner and assist them in finding the products they are looking for
• Provide knowledgeable and informative product recommendations to customers based on their needs and interests
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, including handling cash and credit card payments
• Maintain a clean and organized store environment to ensure a positive customer experience
• Keep up to date on new products, promotions, and events to effectively communicate with customers
• Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a timely and professional manner
• Participate in regular store inventory and restocking tasks
• Other duties may be assigned

Education, Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous retail sales experience is preferred
• Strong customer service skills and a positive, friendly attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems
• Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, and evenings as needed
• Some travel may be required

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodical, professional journals, technical procedures, or government and MCA regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts as applicable to a retail environment.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weakness of alternate solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment:

The work environment varies by temperature and conditions throughout the facility. There are varying degrees of noise, dust, and crowding throughout the facility while performing the essential functions of this job. Salary: $16/hr
